Through its Eramet Beyond initiative, which focuses on fostering economic development, reducing inequalities, and building environmental resilience, Eramet has launched a scholarship program specifically for students from Eastern Indonesia.

This program, in collaboration with the Kitong Bisa Foundation, was officially inaugurated on Friday, November  22, 2024, in Jakarta. Virginie De Chassey, Chief Sustainability & External Affairs Officer; Jérôme Baudelet, CEO of Eramet Indonesia; Olly Dondokambey, SE, Governor of North Sulawesi; and Billy Mambrasar, founder of KBF Indonesia formally presented the scholarships to student representatives in a symbolic ceremony.

Out of 416 applicants, 42 university students were selected to receive educational assistance, including tuition fees, living allowances, and book fees for two years. Beyond financial support, awardees will also receive additional coaching in areas such as English language skills, project management, financial & digital literacy, communication, and leadership.

The selection process emphasized academic achievement, economic background, potential leadership, and a commitment to contributing to their home regions. Priority was given to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields and female applicants. The awardees hail from Sulawesi, North Maluku, and Papua — regions in Indonesia that face limited access to higher education.

This scholarship program marks the beginning of Eramet Beyond’s initiatives in Indonesia and there will be more collaborations with other partners in the near future. Through partnerships, Eramet Beyond aims to enhance the local economy and deliver sustainable, long-term improvements in quality of life while aligning with local priorities.
