The train was in the spotlight at the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2012, co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. It was indeed the most popular means of transportation to attend many games. Transporting equipment, personnel and supporters, the Transgabon operating company (SETRAG) was also a player in this major sporting event on the African continent.

Acquisition of new rolling stock, the refurbishment of stations, new services on board and special trains to transport equipment and personnel, SETRAG spared no efforts and investment to ensure the smooth running of its trains during the Africa Cup of Nations 2012. From January 21st to February 12th, last 19,959 passengers were thus transported by the company which carries COMILOG’s manganese ore.

An ERAMET subsidiary, SETRAG also gave its support to Gabon in organizing the CAN 2012 by taking part in the media campaign of the national Panthers team and promoting the event to its staff, to whom it offered free tickets for some games.
