Context

Controlling risk and productivity are major challenges for any mining company. Beyond traditional methods, mining companies want to use the power of image analysis and artificial intelligence in order to be able to detect risk, to manage productivity in real time and to alert operators in their working environment.

Today, our HME is equipped with cameras to help the driver visualize and monitor his machine’s environment: they provide a 360° view around the machine (see photos above).

Expectations

Eramet is looking to go beyond the simple visualization of its HME environment and wants to be able to use these images to detect in real-time anomalies linked to the safety and productivity of its operations.

Here are a few examples of anomalies we’d like to address: edge detection and roll-over risk detection, pedestrians and light vehicle detection, loading unit bucket filling factor detection.

We are looking for solutions available to be implemented within one year.

Context

Pyrometallurgical plants can emit dust which, depending on operating and weather conditions, can have a negative impact on environment and neighboring communities.

Through its CSR roadmap, ERAMET is committed to minimizing the impact of its dust emissions on environment and local populations by implementing innovative technologies.

Today, continuous air quality monitoring stations are installed at and near our industrial sites, but there is no integrated visualization of the information. Furthermore, these data are numerical and do not allow us to visualize the impact of dust on the environment and the vicinity.

Moreover, meteorological data are not systematically considered.

Expectations

Our aim is to find a tool capable of simultaneously visualizing all the information gathered (from devices installed on industrial stacks and in the vicinity, from meteorological services) and integrating it to be able to anticipate the impact of any emissions event.

This tool must be available in the operations control room because emission events must be detected as early as possible, so that appropriate corrective action can be taken quickly to limit the negative consequences of emissions, particularly on neighbors.

We are looking for solutions available to be implemented within one year.
