Fully aware of its responsibilities, Eramet implements a long-term, responsible and socially aware vision. This commitment is reflected in how carefully it conducts its activity by ensuring it protects the environment, establishes relationships of trust with host communities and participates in the economic development of local areas.

Eramet contributes to the economy of the countries and areas where the Group is established, primarily through:

  • taxes and fees paid to States and localities;
  • dividends for public shareholders that have holdings in Eramet and in its subsidiaries around the world;
  • the wage bill;
  • the realization of local purchases, contributing in particular to the creation of indirect employment;
  • community investments for the benefit of the populations near our sites (support for infrastructure, health, education, economic diversification, etc.).

These contributions are made completely transparently. In line with its obligations, in 2023 Eramet published a document listing the main indicators on contribution to the economy of local areas: Reporting on financial transparency of the Group as at 31 December 2023. These elements are aligned with the principles established by the work of the EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative), which has drawn up best practices for the sector – an initiative that Eramet has supported as a sponsor since 2011.

In 2022, the Eramet group’s contribution in its main areas outside mainland France totaled:

  • €939M in Gabon
  • €506M in New Caledonia
  • €271M in Norway
  • €144M in United States of America
  • €149M in Senegal
  • €496M in Indonesia
  • €339M in Argentina
  • €5k in Cameroon
