Right now, we are tackling the climate change through biocarbon test, our carbon capture pilot project and our carbon capture usage and storage initiative. Our ambition is to be first to launch Zero CO2 Mn Alloys.

Our decarbonization roadmap

The ambition of our Manganese alloys BU is to reach a reduction of 70% of our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035. The main levers to achieve this are biocarbon usage and CC(U)S.

Biocarbon

We will replace fossil coke used as reductants with biogenic carbon.

We have started industrial testing of biocarbon, in view of preparing a full-scale implementation.

CCS and CCUS

We have ongoing two important and large projects on CCS (carbon capture and permanent storage of CO2) and CCUS (carbon capture and utilization of CO2 before permanent storage).

EraLow is produced in our European plants, including Kvinesdal, Porsgrunn, and Sauda in Norway, and Dunkirk in France. These plants combine the use of carbon-free electricity with cutting-edge production processes.
