Our objectives

  • Develop one of the world’s most responsible lithium production projects
  • Contribute to France’s and Europe’s sovereignty in terms of critical metals, and to the development of a lithium industry in France.
  • Contribute to the development of the Alsace region through partnership with a leading local partner

One of the world’s most responsible lithium production projects

Located in Alsace, at the heart of the European battery market, the Ageli project is being developed by Eramet in partnership with Électricité de Strasbourg (ÉS). It combines the performance of geothermal energy (production of low-carbon heat and electricity by pumping hot brine from deep underground) with one of the world’s most efficient battery-grade lithium extraction processes, patented by Eramet. Production is due to start before the end of the decade.

This innovative, sustainable project is perfectly in line with our Group’s strategy of responsibly producing the metals needed for the energy transition, thereby reinforcing French and European sovereignty when it comes to the supply of lithium, a critical component in the battery value chain. We are delighted to be working alongside Electricité de Strasbourg, a trusted partner with recognized expertise.
