The 3rd European Battery Recycling Day takes place on September 9th, 2017. From September 4th Valdi, an ERAMET Groupe subsidiary, picked up the challenge at its base in Commentry (France).
Through a two-stage operation, Valdi renewed its commitment to sustainable development. Last year, Valdi already worked alongside Corepile, one of the two organisations in France in charge of the small battery recycling stream, to carry out impactful, tangible awareness-raising operations in both schools and the company itself.
As in 2016, primary schools in and around Commentry were invited to take part in a clear-out operation from September 4th to 8th, 2017. The aim is to find as many batteries for recycling as possible.
In the following week, Valdi will be active in the Commentry canteen. For five days information will be delivered by posters, flyers and a TV screen as well as a stand on Monday.
European Battery Recycling Day is an opportunity for Valdi to reach out to children and adults on battery recycling and remind them that sorting and recycling is easy as there are collection points in many places (town halls, public buildings, stores, etc.). The subject is part of Valdi’s DNA: the company’s European-scale industrial facility is designed to meet the challenge of 100% recovery and zero landfilling for batteries.
